A Message from Henry
Dear Intermeccanica customers and friends
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Mr. Masaki Horii, my Japanese importer for over 20 years, passed away very recently, after a year long struggle with cancer. He will be greatly missed on both sides of the Pacific. A truly unique individual and one whose commitment to Intermeccanica, as a company, a family and a product, knew no compare. A true friend of mine he was a great partner in the development of the Intermeccanica products that we all enjoy today.
I am thrilled that summer is finally upon us and another Intermeccanica driving season is now well on its way.
Since our last newsletter, we have been busy at the shop with the next batch of what we are calling our 2nd generation water cooled Intermeccanicas, including a first ever water cooled Kubelwagen. All these new water cooled Intermeccanicas are powered by current production VW 2.0 liter cross flow engines, providing an increase in power to 120 HP. Improvements have also been made in engine location within the chassis.
The overall drivability on these newer technology engines is very exciting. The water cooled shift continues to gain momentum, with a number of normally aspirated as well as turbo charged Intermeccanicas now in various stages of production.
I am happy to announce that we are only a few short weeks away from our 50th Anniversary Tour and BBQ and am thrilled by the response and support that we have received from you all. This year will be Intermeccanicas best attended tour to date. I am very pleased to let you know that we will have among our guests at the Tour and BBQ this year, the president of the Intermeccanica Owners Club of Japan, my good friend and Tokyo dealer, Kenji Ikekame.
Yours truly,
Henry Reisner
President
